This could be the shortest presidential campaign in history.  Just a few weeks ago, I wrote these words in a piece here at the Resurgent:

“Biden’s problem is not just that he sticks his foot in his mouth regularly; it’s that he is a square peg trying to fit in a left-wing, intersectionality-created round hole.  People are being chased from the public square, brow-beaten into silence, and publicly scourged by the social justice activist coup that now controls the [Democrat Party]… Simply put, that is an insurmountable obstacle for a guy like Biden.”

And here we are.  In recent days, a social justice activist and former Nevada Assemblywoman Lucy Flores wrote an article for New York Magazine that detailed how Joe Biden invaded her personal space and awkwardly gave her an unwanted kiss.  These days, that’s more than sexual harassment, that’s sexual assault.  Now you tell me how a party that “believes all women” is going to nominate Joe?  It. Won’t. Happen.

While Flores basks in the support offered by fellow progressives, Biden is thrust into an awkward position himself.  How does he deny allegations that could hurt his presidential ambitions while still pretending to be all in favor of “believing this woman?”  Acknowledge you’re a creep and hope an apology can get you past this, or say she’s a liar and betray your party’s social justice warrior base.  Former Senator Al Franken faced the same thing months ago.  That’s former Senator Franken.

Biden’s response was, well, sad:

“Vice President Biden was pleased to support Lucy Flores’s candidacy for Lieutenant Governor of Nevada in 2014 and to speak on her behalf at a well-attended public event.  Neither then, nor in the years since, did he or the staff with him at the time have an inkling that Ms. Flores had been at any time uncomfortable, nor do they recall what she describes.

But Vice President Biden believes that Ms. Flores has every right to share her own recollection and reflections, and that it is a change for better in our society that she has the opportunity to do so.  He respects Ms. Flores as a strong and independent voice in our politics and wishes her only the best.”

If there’s ever been a “I don’t know what to say, please let this just go away” response, that’s it.  But this is the Democrat Party of 2019.  It’s not going away.  Political analyst Josh Jordan explained why:

Clearly this behavior was inappropriate long before 2019, and obviously the social justice movement and new wave feminism has been a living and active force in the Democrat Party for several years.  So how is it that Biden has survived, relatively unscathed to this point?  One reason: Barack Obama.

Biden’s conduct was lovingly passed off as “Joe being Joe” in an effort to shield the Obama presidency from any scandal or bad press.  Now, without the cover of being tied at the hip with the media’s darling, Biden is going to be filleted.

Desperate to gain some traction, flailing presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren and Julian Castro are already sharpening their knives:

“I read the op-ed last night,” Sen Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) told reporters. “I believe Lucy Flores. And Joe Biden needs to give an answer.”

“I believe Lucy Flores,” said former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro. “We need to live in a nation where people can hear her truth.”

In case you’re wondering, I’m sticking by what I said three weeks ago:

I don’t see any way in the world Joe Biden can secure the Democrat Party nomination for President in 2020.  Joe chose a few years back to live by the intersectionality sword. And now, it’s about to run him through.
