Let’s start off with the obvious acknowledgement: Twitter is a private company owned by Jack Dorsey, and therefore he has every right to run his business in a way that adheres to his values and conscience.  It’s not like he’s a Christian baker, after all.

No one with any respect for freedom of conscience, freedom of speech, freedom of association, or freedom in general should confuse Dorsey and company’s fealty to narrow-minded left-wing orthodoxy with censorship.

This isn’t the government silencing dissent.  This is a private company frightened of the expression of competing ideas in the public square, using their power to pretend that better ideas than their own – ideas that would expose them as anti-intellectual, anti-science, and/or immoral – don’t exist.

That makes Jack a joke, not a criminal.

All that said, it is completely within bounds for those of us who possess the better ideas that Dorsey and his Twitterverse ban, to point and laugh.  The most recent example of Jack’s aversion to the open exchange of opinion came with Twitter’s short-lived attempted ban on the public account of the newly released “Unplanned” movie.  Unabashadly pro-life, the movie tells the true story of former Planned Parenthood clinic director Abby Johnson.

It’s that true part that freaks out those who belong to the blood cult of abortion activism.  Abby Johnson was one of “them.”  Then when she saw firsthand what “they” think is moral, she converted.  She thought she was pursuing a career to “help women.”  Then when she saw how women were treated, she converted.  She thought she was committed to “reproductive justice.”  Then when she saw how the most basic justice was being denied to tiny human beings, she converted.  Her story undermines everything the abortion cult has sought to advance, and like desperate children clinging to a lie that is quickly unraveling all around them, they are frantically trying to bury Johnson’s testimony.

To do so, the abortion cabal was all-hands-on-deck: critics panned it with prejudice, the motion picture association slapped it with an R-rating (abortion is oddly the only bloody violence Hollywood seems concerned about being aired), TV networks rejected even generic ads for the film, and then came Jack’s Twitter on their blood-stained white horse:

Not long after Lila Rose and Live Action sounded the alarm, members of Congress were even calling out the bias, and Twitter was shamed into correcting its “error” (undoubtedly the result of some algorithm gone wrong – insert eyeroll here).

And while that’s a win for those who believe in the open exchange of ideas, it’s also an instructive reminder that Twitter, like most all of pop culture, is the left’s playground.  While public shaming will sometimes embarrass them enough to play fair, evenhandedness is never their default.  Until conservatives innovate and create a technological platform of their own, they can’t be surprised when this stuff keeps happening.

Still, success is the biggest revenge.  And by that measure, "Unplanned" is giving Jack, the MPA, Hollywood, and network television their comeuppance.   Despite their best efforts, people are seeing the movie in droves, the veil is being lifted, and hearts are being changed. Praise God.
