If you had asked me to pick what Republican Senator was going to lay into the Democrats with righteous indignation today for them callously using Brett Kavanaugh’s character, reputation, and his innocent family as collateral damage in their political games, I would have put a lot of money on Ted Cruz. If not him, maybe Ben Sasse or Mike Lee. But never in a million years would I have thought South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham would have a Spartacus moment that made Cory Booker’s attempt look as weak and mock-able as, well, it was. But that’s exactly what happened. It was as if Graham had somehow bottled all the frustration, angst, and annoyance being felt by millions of Americans who knew this was all political theater to the Democrats. And right there in the committee room, Graham let loose in a way that should earn him the street name Graham-Nasty. Because that dude dropped some sick burns on the dog and pony show Democrats were trying to conduct. Oh, and the hilarious Twitter fainting couches of liberal mainstream media types that responded to his performance was all the evidence you needed to know he was right, and that:
Here’s the full smackdown dropped by Senator Graham-nasty as he fired back at liberal Senator Dick Durbin:
Maybe the fact that this kind of a moment is so out of character for Graham is what made it so effective. People remembered Jesus turning over the money-changers’ tables after all, not because such fire was common for Him, but because it was so uncommon that it had to be genuine. Graham is no Jesus, obviously. But this undressing of the exploiting character assassins on the left was memorable and tremendously effective. Graham wisely impugned the character of the real villains here – the Senate Democrats who proved they didn’t care about Dr. Ford, her well-being, or her plight. He pointed out that she too was a victim of the Feinstein cabal’s political manipulation. And he’s right. Dr. Ford clearly cares about her case and came forward for a legitimate reason. Dianne Feinstein and the Democrats knew what was best for her and they chose something entirely different because their desire was to score a political victory, even if it meant using and mistreating an alleged victim in the process. It’s all about power, just like Graham-Nasty said it was. Later Graham would add that he would be heartbroken and furious if the U.S. Senate votes to reward this kind of shameful demagoguery and character assassination by rejecting Kavanaugh’s nomination. He’s not alone, of course. This mistreatment of, by all substantiated accounts a good and decent man, has awakened many who had drifted into political slumber. They’re sick of this nonsense. They’re fed up with the games that ruin peoples’ lives. And at least on a late Thursday afternoon, Senator Lindsey Graham was their voice and hero. Who would have thought he had it in him? |
