The news out of Pennsylvania will make you sick to your stomach.  That is, if you have a conscience, which is more than can be said for the 301 sexual predators in Christ’s clothing that were named in a grand jury sex abuse report.  The document is 884 pages long, and it seems that each page turns up one horror after another that were inflicted by supposed men of the cloth against little boys and girls.

Just days ago, the Pope arrogantly proclaimed to the world that the death penalty is incompatible with the character of God.  Perhaps he came to such a Biblically incoherent conclusion out of convenience, given that what has happened within his manmade church hierarchy offers one of the strongest cases for capital punishment you could ever imagine.

Tell me any other sentence besides death is equal to this crime:

A group of four (clergy from the Pittsburg diocese) groomed and violently sexually assaulted young boys, said Shapiro.

“One boy was forced to stand on a bed in a rectory, strip naked and pose as Christ on the cross for the priests. They took photos of their victim, adding them to a collection of child pornography which they produced and shared on church grounds,” Shapiro said.

Not only are they guilty of violent sexual assault, not only have they robbed these young boys of a normal existence, not only have they abused their positions of authority to commit rape, but they concealed it in terrifying fashion to convey to their victims there was no escape, no help, no place to turn.

The Diocese down the road in Greensburg was just as sick:

“One priest, Fr. Raymond Lukac, impregnated a 17-year-old girl, forged another pastor’s signature on a marriage certificate then divorced the girl shortly after she gave birth. Despite having sex with a minor, fathering a child and being married and divorced, Fr. Lukac was allowed to stay in ministry while the diocese sought a benevolent bishop in another state willing to take the predator, hiding him from justice.”

If one is looking to see the depths of depravity to which a mind and soul controlled by the wickedness of Satan himself will sink, just read this report.  It will stir your conscience to demand earthly justice, and for those of us who submit to the authority of Christ, it will remind us of the importance of eternal justice.

Just a couple weeks ago I promoted a tweet offered by a Professor of Theology named Matthew Barrett, who correctly pointed out:

“The world thinks the wrath of God is cruel.  How ironic.  God’s judgment is a comfort to those wrongly oppressed, the assurance that this God will make all things right.  To reject his retributive justice is to rob them of hope.”

Barrett is right.  And so if nothing else, I hope and pray that somehow, some way, each and every victim of these predatory monsters – who not only terrorized scared and vulnerable innocents as young as 7 and 8 for their own sadistic pleasure, but did it wearing the name of Christ – I hope that they can be reminded of this truth: 

God will have His vengeance.

Not only have these perverted priests harmed God’s innocent children, but they have subjected the name and being of Christ to public disgrace.  The Supreme Judge of the world is not ambivalent about such things.
